Donna graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a B. Sc. in Chemistry. In 1970, moved to Ottawa where she worked for Nortel Networks and raised four children. Over the 30 years at Nortel, she held various positions including managing a Technical Writing and Illustrating department.
Early retirement from Nortel, has allowed Donna to devote more of her time to painting. Her passion for painting now absorbs her on many fronts; from working on her Fine Arts Diploma at St Lawrence College, to participating in various workshops that peak her interest, to completing commission works, to participating on the executive of the Nepean Fine Arts League. Currently, she holds the position of Past President of the League. She is also a member of the Kanata Art Club and the Ottawa West Arts Association.
She has been juried into exhibits at Gallery 7A, the Kanata Civic Art Gallery , and the Eastern Central Ontario Artists Association. Her works were accepted into the Mayor's Art Festival in Ottawa and have been displayed at the Ottawa Little Theatre, the Atrium Gallery, Centrepointe Theatre Gallery, the Nepean Museum , the Studio Gallery, the NFAL Gallery, and at the Tulip Festival. Through the Kanata Art Club, she regularly exhibits at Alcatel and St Paul 's church. Her paintings are also held in private collections in Canada , Switzerland , USA , St Helena, and South Africa .

Having discovered a passion for the process, she now finds herself spending all of her spare time putting paint on canvas. "In a portrait, I usually paint the eyes last. It never fails to amaze me how the canvas comes to life when the subject looks back at me. At that point, I don't know ‘who is looking at whom'. Magic!"
